Location
St. Moritz is located in the heart of the Upper Engadin in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, 1,800 meters above sea level. It can be reached via car or train as well as private jet via Engadine Airport in Samedan. St. Moritz is one of the world’s most upmarket mountain resorts. It is chic and exclusive with a cosmopolitan ambiance.

Climate
Thanks to its location, St. Moritz has a dry and mild Alpine climate with over 300 days of sunshine. Big variations in temperature between summer and winter, and between day and night are characteristic, as well as the refreshing Maloja wind that blows around midday, which creates excellent conditions for windsurfers.

Currency
The local currency is the Swiss Franc (CHF), with its minor unit ‘Rappen’. Locals also refer to it as ‘Stutz’.

Language
There are three official languages in Graubünden, German being the most common, followed by Italian and Romansh, the traditional Engadine language that is still taught in school.

Dress Code
Always keep the Alpine climate in mind. In winter, a warm jacket as well as gloves and a hat is mandatory, in summer a light jacket and sunglasses also come in handy. When going out in the evening the motto is ‘dress to impress’ though not all events require formal attire.

Local Food
St. Moritz dining is very eclectic from pizza and pasta to Asian and from fine dining to cozy and casual. If you are unsure where to go, the concierge team can assist with expert recommendations and are happy to reserve a table in advance. Local specialties not to be missed include the traditional Swiss cheese fondue and Pizziocheri.
